Thiruvananthapuram: Three suspected dengue deaths,  one each in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kottayam, have occurred during the last four days.  As many as 14,657 fever cases and 118 dengue cases have been  reported in the state.

Ushakumari, a native of Pattazhi, Kollam, died on Tuesday morning at Medical College Hospital after being under treatment for fever. The relatives alleged that the death happened  due to the negligence of  doctors and filed a complaint with the Medical College police station. She was brought  to the hospital on Monday night.

The other suspected dengue deaths were of Mary Kutty John, 69, of Muttuchira who died on Tuesday and Sherli chacko, 39, of Kollam who died on June 1. The state has also reported 12 cases of leptospirosis with seven in Thiruvananthapuram.

In Ernakulam, dengue cases were reported from Kalady, Payipra, Naya-rambalam, Mulavukadu, Keezhumadu and Kanji-ramattom. In Kozhikode, in addition to dengue, one case of malaria and five cases of jaundice were also reported. Malappuram and Waya-nad reported eight and three cases  of jaundice respectively.

Meanwhile, Health minister V.S. Sivakumar has announced a special package for Pathanamthitta to control the spread of infectious diseases. At the health adalat organised in Pathanamthitta, he said that the state vector control team will camp in the district to assist the preventive steps  in areas where more cases of dengue fever are reported.

In a review meeting held after the adalat, he directed the DMO to buy enough fogging machines for the district. A district-level toll free number will also be started to help the people.

The DYFI workers held a march to the DMO offices of Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur alleging that shortage of staff has affected the functioning of many hospitals  and demanded that they should be immediately appointed.

Note:-

Rulers of this state waste their tenure on petty politics, do nothing, the opposition is equal

culprit as they did nothing during their rule, basic things are neglected and run behind smart city like projects which benefit no one!!!
