TEMPLE CULTURE:- THE OFFERINGS TO LORD.

Present days people going to temples carry coins, to offer before the deity, (few throw the coins) or drop the coins in the hundis (a box kept for it in temples), acting in a funny way of circling the coin around head, and so on. Now a days lot of counters offer tickets for special act of pujas and nivediyams on payments, considered to get benefits and blessings from the Lord.

People carry such superstitions, to further fan this flame, astrologers exploit the these crowd, and recommend more and more deities cum temples to relieve them from sufferings and gain benefits, suggesting special offerings by way of cash, puja, etc.

Bhagavadgita the Great Guru, shows the right direction and remove our superstitions:-

CHAPTER:-9. [Raja Vidya Raja Guhya Yogam].

Slogam-26.

PATRAM  PUSHPAM  PHALAM  TOYAM  YO ME BAKTYA  PRIYACATI

TADAHAM  BAKTYUPAHYATASNAMI  PRYATATMANA.

One who offer with great devotion any one of the following such as a Tulasi leaf, a flower, a fruit, water, I accept all things and experience  the person's devotion and his/her pure mind's submission and dedication.

The leaf, flower, fruit, and water are symbolic, which represent the following-

1-Water=Womb ( Balyam /childhood), 2.Leaf=Koumaram/Adolescent,  3. Flower= Youth,  4.Fruit=Vardakyam/Old age. A journey of human body through the person's life, and offer his/her mind[involvement. submission, dedication] to the Lord.

Therefore THE LORD DO NOT ASK ANYTHING FROM THE DEVOTEE, BUT ONLY THE MIND.
