If, by religion we mean the mad fanaticism and ignoble strife that we observe  in the day's vitiated atmosphere beneath steeples, gopurams, or domes, then, it is only too true to declare that religion can provide us only  with plenty of chances to confuse and confound our issues in life. Unintelligent and blind followers have made the best of philosophies  serve as lifeless prescriptions for ritualism!

Without its true stamina and vital dynamism, religion has become today, in the hands of a few, an inhuman engine to demoralise  the generation and to feed it with false sentiments superstitious fears and strife-breeding fanaticism.[ to be cont---d]

27/11/2018 5. Repeatedly Lord Krishna extols righteousness. The greatest Bhakta is—not one who goes on rolling the beads, with selfishness, lust, anger and greed enshrined in his heart but—one who is endowed with all auspicious qualities, and who is devoted to the welfare of humanity. Lord Krishna does not define Jnana as scriptural erudition or an intellectual appreciation of philosophic truths or the capacity and cleverness to string words together and to indulge in vain debating. He defines Jnana as the sum total of the best of virtues. Read the thirteenth Chapter of the Bhagavadgita, you will understand this clearly. The Lord says: watch for these qualities in a man. If they are present, he is a Jnani, a saint; you can safely follow him and adopt him as your spiritual guide. In 1949, opening a cupboard, the Master’s attendant found a bedsheet bitten by a rat, and inside the sheet were four of its newborns. They had hardly opened their eyes. He took them to the Master. When the Master saw the baby rats, his heart was flooded with compassion. He felt greatly pained that they should have been disturbed. He asked the attendant to put them back immediately in the same place and condition, lest their mother should miss them. This was done. But in a day or two, the mother rat got killed by a cat. Soon after, the little ones also died. When the Master saw the dead rats, he felt sad and did Maha Mantra Kirtan for a pretty long time for the peace of the departed souls.
